Introducing The Blog
When I started studying literature and culture because of my love for literature, words and writings, I had to realize that as a student I had so much to read for university that I simply stopped reading for fun and for my own enjoyment. I started my blog The Recovering Bookworm in the beginning of 2020 on Instagram to challenge myself to read more books for fun again and not because they were part of my curriculum. My goal was simple: I wanted to read one book a month just for myself and my own enjoyment.
Originally I just shared this goal with a couple of friends who followed me on my private Instagram account. But soon I discovered that I liked blogging about books and that I loved connecting to booklovers from all over the world. While I love how simple it is to connect and make friends with other readers on social media I also wanted to give my work as a blogger a space outside of social networking sites.
That is how I decided to start this blog – as a platform that is accessible to all the people who are not on social media, that is free from numbers and caption-restrictions – and most of all a corner of the internet that is independent and just my own. So I created this little space here share my book reviews, to write, to reflect and to explore the topics that I am passionate about. For me and for you.
Welcome.

Introducing Me
I am Laura, a twenty-something bibliophile from Germany. When I am not somewhere on the internet writing about the things I love, I am probably either studying, working or snacking. I have a degree in literary & cultural studies, sociology and journalism studies. I am passionate about feminism, coffee, books, cooking, sustainability, writing, politics and Simon, the cat. Always idealistic and continually learning.
On my blog I mostly share book reviews and other posts about books and reading. But you can also find me on The Storygraph and here:
